Fine Metals Is More Than Metals

We believe it is our responsibility to help improve the community that allows us to be in business. We enjoy volunteering for and donating to organizations like Habitat for Humanity, The Arc, Fighting More Than Fire, the FIRST Robotics Team for local high schools, Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Engineering and ASM’s Education Foundation. Many of our team members have children who play sports or are involved with extra-curricular activities. We enjoy being sponsors for their teams and organizations as well.

We are proud to serve our local community of Ashland, Virginia. If you have a service project that you’d like us to collaborate with, please contact us.  We’d love to hear from you!

Here’s what we’ve been up to lately:

The Arc of Virginia

The Arc of Virginia promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.

Fine Metals Corporation believes that all people should have the right to obtain the quality of life they desire. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities should not be deprived of this right. Teaming up with The Arc of Virginia and our local chapter, The Arc of Hanover, whose purpose is to ensure these rights, was a natural fit for us. Fine Metals Corp. also helps these organizations by sponsoring local events, such as “A Taste of Hanover.” The proceeds help The Arc of Hanover accomplish its mission.

Fine Metals Corporation supports this mission through contributions, being a supported employment business in Hanover, Va., and by advocating.

ASM Materials Education Foundation

The ASM Materials Education Foundation provides for the advancement of scientific and engineering knowledge through its support of education and research. Thanks to the hard work on the part of ASM volunteers and staff, the foundation is able to provide exciting opportunities for young people, encouraging them to pursue careers in materials, science, and engineering.

Fine Metals Corporation is grateful for organizations like ASM International. They help connect us to the resources necessary to improve our products, educate our team members and keep us in touch with whats going on in various industries that utilize the high purity metals and alloys that we manufacture. Their Materials Education Foundation shows young people the exciting careers that Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) can lead to. From the moment Fine Metals Corp. learned about this foundation we knew we had to find a way to support it!

Fighting More Than Fire

The mission of Fighting More Than Fire eagerly undertakes the following pursuits:

  • Structural Residential Rebuilding:  Constructing homes for the poor, distressed or underprivileged through the aid of local businesses, firefighters, and community supporters and volunteers.
  • Educational Community Awareness:  Instructing surrounding and participating communities about the necessary and effective precautions of fire prevention.
  • Scholastic Financial Support:  “Paying it Forward” by providing academic scholarships to the children of firefighters.

Fine Metals Corp. team members have a variety of backrounds, including a professional firefighter from Richmond, Va. He helped us team up with Fighting More Than Fire, another local non-profit that was a natural fit for us. Donating time and skills to help rebuild the community is a privilege and we’re proud to partner with this organization.

VCU School of Engineering

The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Engineering strives to provide students with a well-rounded educational experience. In addition to meeting rigorous academic demands, VCU’s students find time to be active in research and student organizations, allowing them to develop leadership and collaborative skills both in and outside the classroom.

Universities, labs, and research and development is a large part of our success at Fine Metals Corporation. Not having a minimum order requirement allows us to supply universities with smaller orders for testing and comparing. We enjoy contributing to VCU’s School of Engineering, being a Dean’s Society Member, and attending their Capstone Design Expo.

Friends For Life

Friends For Life’s mission is to create opportunities for and connect adults with disabilities and their families to Christian communities of faith so they have meaningful friendships, adventures, spiritual growth and opportunities to serve.

Fine Metals Corporation enjoys giving to organizations that help people grow and serve a higher purpose. Organizations like this help people with disabilities grow and achieve their full potential in their personal and spiritual lives.

The Tad DuPriest Foundation

The Tad DuPriest Foundation began in 2006 with a group of close friends who wanted to commemorate the loss of their dear friend, Tad DuPriest, who lost his life through a tragic car accident at the young age of 19. The Tad DuPriest has raised funds and partnered with ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation since its inception. In 2010, the organization changed its name to Tad’s Kids and launched, “Camp Unplugged” to help teen navigate social media and self-esteem.

Camp Unplugged’s fun and meaningful outdoor experience helps kids be kids again. Camps are offered at no charge.

Being able to experience the joy of the outdoors as a kid is a great part of life. Fine Metals Corp. teams up with organizations like Tad’s Kids to help make it possible for all kids, no matter what their financial situation is. Helping create these opportunities is part of our effort to improve the world we live in.fine metals in the community, fine metals tad, tad's kids fine metals, fine metals ashland va

VCU Formula SAE

VCU’s Formula SAE team is an international racing team at Virginia Commonwealth University. These students design and build a mini open wheeled vehicle that is intended to be sold to an imaginary company owned by the Society of Automotive Engineers.
